Genesis 34:20-22

²⁰ So Hamor and Shechem appeared before the city council^[a] and presented their request.

²¹ “Those men are our friends,” they said. “Let’s invite them to live here among us and ply their trade. For the land is large enough to hold them, and we can intermarry with them. ²² But they will only consider staying here on one condition—that every one of us men be circumcised, the same as they are.
